In the end, Emma looked remarkably like Monica. She had her lovely tiny nose, her ears, and bundles of brown hair that fell into spots on her head. When Michael stared into the girl’s blue eyes, he saw nothing. Except for Emma, both children had blue eyes. He couldn’t figure out where she obtained them, and it bothered him.
