Ramses II
Ramses II is also called Ramesses the Great. He ruled from 1279 to 1213 BC during the 19th Dynasty. Born in 1303 BC, he was the 3rd pharaoh of that dynasty. Incredibly, he had around 50 sons and 50 daughters. Whoa. He died in 1213 BC at the age of 90. He is considered to be the most legendary and powerful pharaoh of the New Kingdom. This is why they have 5 monuments honoring him in Egypt!

What Ramses II Really Looked Like
Upon his death, they buried him in the KV7 tomb in the Valley of the Kings. There was a time that they moved the body to a royal cache. Priests moved the remains, rewrapped it, and hid it in the tomb of Queen Ahmose Inhapy because of looting. Three days after this, it was then moved to the tomb of a priest called Pinedjem. The hieroglyphics covering his tomb confirm it. In 1881, they discovered his remains, which is now displayed at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
