Broadway
Selleck had a brief time performing in theatre back in 2001. He played Murray in the Broadway adaptation of A Thousand Clowns. Unfortunately for Selleck, there was a lot of negative feedback for his sub-standard performance. Critics argued that Selleck could not possibly top the acting done by Jason Robards, Jr. in the film version. Selleck, however, had some support in his corner. The playwright argued that he intentionally wrote the character that way. The critical reviews stayed standing.
Outdoorsman
Selleck is the type of actor who has qualities that would make him the iconic Western star. Just like any cowboy, he is a marksman, firearms collector, and a man of the outdoors. His dedication to the role paid off as he starred in roles in hit films like Quigley Down Under, The Shadow Riders, The Sacketts, and Crossfire Trail.
