Mary Lou Retton
Mary Lou Retton made history for the United States women’s gymnastics team when she won the title of being the individual all-around champion in the Olympic Games that was held in Los Angeles, CA, in the middle of 1984. She was the very first American woman to win an all-around gold medal. During her entire journey in participating in the Olympic Games, she managed to bag a total of five medals – two bronze medals, two silver medals, and one gold medal that she got from the all-around competition. After her retirement, her fantastic performance as a gymnast brought her an opportunity to be featured and appear in some talk shows and TV shows such as Dancing with the Stars. Now, she is already 52 years old. She is spending her time focusing on her children – McKenna Lane Kelley, Shayla Rae Kelley, Emma Jean Kelley, Skyla Brae Kelley.
Kerri Strug
Kerri Allyson Strug Fischer, or simply Kerri Strug, was a member of the “Magnificent Seven.” It was a women’s gymnastic team that was formed at the 1996 Olympic Games, which was held in the United States. During the competition, Kerri Strug was suffering from an injury that almost threw her out of the game, but she decided to keep going. Along with the whole team’s amazing skills in gymnastics, her perseverance and determination despite the pain she had been feeling the whole time due to her injury made them able to finish with a gold medal. When her journey as a gymnast had to come to an end, she chose to pursue the path of being an elementary school teacher. In the middle of 2010, she was married to Robert Fischer, and they have been living happily together ever since.
