Hitting Something Hard
While he normally wouldn’t feel really surprised to come across a rock while digging, he knew that the soil in his soy field was soft and moistened, so he shouldn’t have hit any hard objects. James did not know what the object could be, though he wanted to find out. Getting out of the machine’s seat, he went to check the object out and started feeling around it. The object was smooth and hard, but it was definitely not a rock, he thought.

James continued clearing away the dirt with his hands until he cleared the whole area away. He saw it was some kind of bone! It was the first time he had ever seen anything like it, and he was fascinated. In the beginning, he thought it might be a rib bone, but he knew that it was too large to come from something which he had seen around there before.
