Covered by leaves and mud, Christopher was left dumbfounded by the fall. Nevertheless, he shook it off and then looked at what was in front of him. Did he just discover a mine on his property? What he saw definitely perplexed him. The mine looked old and abandoned judging by its appearance, and he felt compelled to find out the secrets that the intriguing structure held.

Moss-like material was all over the mine’s exterior, which made it hard to look inside. Thrilled to go on a new adventure, Christopher went home and got a flashlight so he could see what the mine was hiding.

Christopher talked about that moment and said, “When we bought the house, nobody ever told us about the fact that the estate had a lot of mines on it. We just sort of stumbled upon the gold mine one day and that was it. When I first saw it, I was so excited that I almost fell over myself. At that time, he had no idea that this was the worst decision he could make. Nevertheless, he made his way back to the entrance with a flashlight at hand. Holding his breath, Christopher stepped inside. Something sparkly on the walls welcomed him, but what was it exactly?

Aside from being damp, the walls looked like they were going to fall down at any time. His footsteps echoed and Christopher could not help thinking about all the soil that was pressing down on the walls of the mine. It was clear that he wanted to spend some time down there since he took three backup batteries with the flashlight.

When he went near the walls, he could not stop himself from brushing his hand on the stones’ sparkling material. He remembers thinking, “What if this was gold?” However, it was not long before he forgot about that since he noticed something which could immediately change the course of his adventure.

No matter what the temperature outside was, the mine was rather damp and cold. He immediately noticed the 4-inch indentations on the ground that his footprints were making. He found fresh pools of water inside so he thought there had to be a source of water there. He felt worried because he knew that stagnant puddles in a place like this could have dangerous gases.

However, when he directed the flashlight straight outward and looked ahead of him, he could not see where the tunnel ended. He could tell someone or something else was in there. Then, he started hearing noises echoing in the tunnel! Curious, he began to walk towards the source of the noise. Clearly, he had no idea that he was making a wrong move.

Going deeper into the tunnel, Christopher noticed there was no light, no movement of air, and no warmth there. He held his flashlight tightly, almost as if it was a blade for battle. This time around, the noise got louder and he could hear machinery and old metal parts somewhere along the path.

He also started hearing voices! While he couldn’t figure out what they were saying, he had enough courage to shout, “Who’s there?” However, the only response that he got was his echo, so he felt determined to see just who was hiding in there.

He was now surrounded by water and dirt. Every step he took, his boots went in deeper. He noticed a yellow ventilation system which was falling apart and some chains hanging low that were all rusting and molding.

All of a sudden, Christopher felt strange. He felt as if there was some weird energy in the tunnel. Something was pulling him back, making him feel like he shouldn’t have been there. Nevertheless, he continued to follow the water’s path to trace its source, hoping he will also find where the voices were coming from. He started to wonder if someone was living down there.

“The ambient temperature also seemed to suddenly drop all around me at this point, and I felt an even stronger negative presence ahead in the tunnel,” he recalled. He was almost 150 feet into the tunnel at this point. When he turned around, he found some light by the entrance.

He was shocked by what he saw once he looked back. He just stood there for two seconds before his body finally reacted and he jumped. He held onto the walls, feeling more and more claustrophobic. One of the chains began to swing!

The movement was not light either. The chain was moving with strength, and Christopher knew there was someone watching him. Running back to the entrance, his heart pounded. He just knew he needed to escape and tell someone about what he had found. However, the question now was who.

He was sweaty and terrified as he made his way back home. He reached for his phone right away and contacted the realtor. He then started describing what he saw. Christopher told the real estate agent about the sparkly stuff on the walls which gave light to the tunnel and they told him that they were sending someone who can check it out.

Christopher recalled, “When we went to ask about the place, we were finally told that the estate had actually been home to quite a lot of mining sites. A lot of mining was done in these hills at the turn of the century, and there are a lot of little mines that are scattered across the hills.” After the call, he initially felt better, but his body immediately tensed up again and exclaimed, “This cannot be happening!”

When the call ended, Christopher was standing in his kitchen. The lights started to flicker much to his surprise. Panic was blooming in his chest but he tried to control it. He started breathing rapidly as the lights continued to flicker for a while. All of a sudden, everything went dark.

He walked to where the switch in the room was located and tried to turn it on and off but nothing happened. He then started to feel a chill which had not been there a few seconds before. He saw the temperature inside the house had fallen quite a bit. In front of him was a cloud that his breath was making. “How strange,” Christopher thought. He wanted to have the power back so he went to the circuit breaker. A fuse might have just blown.

When he held up the flashlight to the breaker to examine it, he didn’t see anything that indicated something was wrong. The main fuse looked fine and everything was in check. As he continued to investigate the box, he tried switching things on and off. Fortunately, this worked and he felt relieved that there was nothing more sinister at play.

“Faulty wiring,” Christopher told himself despite still feeling nervous. He went back upstairs to get a glass of water, thinking it could help calm himself down. However, as soon as he got there, Christopher heard the doorbell ring.

What was it now? Mr. Rudall quickly introduced himself. He explained that the realtor sent him because of Christopher’s discovery. Rudall wanted to see what Christopher found and was intrigued by the substance that the new homeowner described over the phone.

When they got to the mine, they both reached for their flashlights. This time, the sparkling substance was so evident that they were hit in the face by the glare. Rudall went nearer the walls to take a closer look. He could not hold in his excitement any longer. He turned to Christopher, feeling like the mine was telling them something. Rudall then told Christopher about something quite troubling.

Rudall started telling Christopher that the mine was certainly a gold mine from a long time ago. Staring at the walls, he could see that the gold was untouched. There was evidence that the miners had not finished the job and chose to abandon the mine instead, but why was that?

Rudall explained that at the turn of the century, there were a lot of rumors about mining but he had not been aware of any particular gold mines prior to this one. The question now was why did the miners leave all that gold and abandon the mine? Christopher could not think of anything positive but he still wanted to learn the truth.

He plucked up all his courage and investigated the mine further. Two things came to his mind – one is that he could find gold and the other is that the mine could be haunted. He made preparations for the excursion and then headed inside the tunnel with a flashlight and spare batteries in hand. As he went down the path, he was soon enveloped by darkness.

Previously, he just made it to 150 feet inside the tunnel. He knew he had to keep going whatever happened. It was the only way that he would be able to get to the bottom of things. When he was 600 feet inside the tunnel, he found where the water was coming from. It was a door.

When Christopher inspected the bunk, he saw a bedspring which was rusty and torn. That was the answer that he needed. There was someone who lived there and it seemed like they were not moving anywhere else anytime soon. The thought would not leave Christopher’s head but something else caught his interest.

There was a brick hideaway, which did not comfort him at all. A hideaway behind a door in a mine – who needs something like that? Someone who is trying to hide something that is important for sure. Curious, he went nearer the hole but he found nothing there. When he was turning around, he found something else that was on the brick structure’s walls.

He used his flashlight in order to light the bricks. Then, he saw white scratches that were scribbled on the walls, but he could not understand what it said. When he came closer, he saw four vertical lines that were on the walls. It was definitely strange, to say the least.

He touched the scratches in order to inspect them. He though the scratches had been made using fingers as they were quite superficial yet deep enough to make marks on the cement. It seemed someone was eager to escape, but who? As he mulled this over, he discovered yet another thing which would frequent his nightmares.

There were more scratches on the other wall but they weren’t just simple lines this time. He found a message that was undecipherable so he decided to document it. He used his camera to take a picture. He could use a computer later to investigate it further and try decoding it.

Then, he suddenly heard something and he felt a chill course through his body. Someone else was in there. He shone his flashlight on what he thought was the source of sound but there was nothing there. He turned back to the writing on the wall to further examine it. Then, he heard metal clashing followed by a cold breeze descending on his shoulder.

He felt as if he just had a cold shower since all the warmth that had been in his body dissipated. At first, he thought the sound came from behind him, but then it seemed like it came from the front. He Googled ‘haunted mines’, feeling goosebumps while the results were loading. Christopher could feel that he was not alone and that whatever it was in the mine was with him in the house. He wondered whether his mind was just playing tricks on him.

When he turned around, he heard whispering everywhere. Was he going crazy? When he turned around again, the whispering halted. At that point, the air had become icy and his heavy breathing was the only thing that could be heard.

There was a sign on the storefront that read “TAROT readings”. Christopher felt relief go through him. Even though he still had a hard time believing what he had experienced, he had to get answers to his questions if he wanted to have sound sleep at night.

When he entered the store, the door let off a song. Then, he smelled incense and saw a woman in red and purple. Turning to Christopher, she offered him a hand and immediately started chanting a tune which sounded familiar to him. The song seemed to be drawing him and then he realized it was the same tune that he heard in the mine, but this was way more melodic. Without saying anything, he opened his eyes and then got into his car.

The developers responsible for the property did try to contact Christopher but he never got in touch with them. His mom took his place instead and sold the property for him. On Christmas day in 2015, Jose Antonio Nievas got up at sunrise. For the Argentinian man, this was nothing out of the ordinary as he was really excited for Christmas. Since he woke up early, he decided to take a walk around his ranch. However, he noticed something was out of the ordinary and out of place when he walked past the stream on his property – a huge stone was on the water. Feeling very curious, he took a closer look, but when he looked at it more closely, he realized that it was not a stone!

It was a good thing that Jose thought of bringing his dog along, though, since the pup was actually more helpful than anybody else!

Everybody was feeling hopeful the dog was on to something important. After all, it is not common for dogs to make a big scene over nothing relevant.

The dog was cluing everyone in that something important was there, so the police decided to call in professionals who could help them. They asked a pair of local archaeologists to come since the authorities knew conducting a proper scientific investigation was important. This meant the object had to be taken to a lab. He was aware that making a new natural gas line meant having to do plenty of digging, but little did he know that he would find something completely unexpected.
