The Robber Crab
The coconut crab, sometimes known as the “robber crab” or “palm thief,” is the world’s largest land-living arthropod and is predominantly found on islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. This bizarre species can grow up to one meter in length and weigh just under 10 pounds. Because their meat is considered a delicacy and can be easily identified, these crabs are widely sought.
